Bike Care & Safety
Before every ride
Regular inspection and correct care help keep your Evolve bike operating safely. Before riding, check the front and rear tyres and tyre pressure, brakes, wheel security, handlebars, pedals, visible nuts, bolts and fasteners, electrical cables and connectors, and that the battery is correctly seated and secured.
Do not ride the bike if anything appears loose, damaged, worn or unsafe. It is the owner's responsibility to keep the bike appropriately maintained and in a safe condition before use.
Initial setup & tyre inflation
Most Evolve bikes arrive approximately 90% pre-assembled. Depending on the model, final setup generally includes fitting or aligning the handlebars, front wheel and pedals, plus rear passenger pegs, front rack and throttle where supplied or appropriate for the intended configuration.
For initial tyre inflation, first inflate to approximately 5 PSI. Inspect the tyre around the complete wheel and confirm that the tyre bead is evenly and correctly seated inside the rim. Once correctly seated, gradually inflate to the recommended pressure for that tyre and model, continuing to check the bead as pressure increases. Do not continue inflating if the bead is uneven, twisted or lifting from the rim.
The required assembly tools are supplied with the bike, together with what is needed to inflate the tyres. If you are not confident completing final assembly and safety checks, we recommend having a qualified bicycle mechanic complete the setup.
Regular maintenance
Tyres, brakes, wheels, drivetrain, nuts, bolts, fasteners, cables and electrical connections should be inspected regularly. Normal riding creates vibration, movement and wear, so components may require adjustment, tightening, cleaning or servicing over time.
Cables & electrical connections
Regularly inspect visible electrical cables, connectors and wiring for looseness, crushing, stretching, cuts or abrasion. Pay particular attention after transporting or strapping down the bike, after a fall or impact, maintenance work or riding over rough terrain.
A cable can be damaged or partially disconnected even when there is little obvious external damage. A loose, crushed or damaged connection can contribute to intermittent power, jerking, loss of assistance or an error code appearing on the display.
Water, rain & cleaning
Evolve e-bikes contain water-resistant electrical components but should not be considered waterproof. Avoid deep puddles, flooded areas, standing water and situations where electrical components may be submerged. Do not pressure-wash the motor, battery, display, controller or electrical connectors.
Water entering electrical components or connectors can cause communication faults, corrosion and electrical failures. Damage caused by water ingress, submersion, pressure washing or inappropriate use may not be covered by the manufacturer's voluntary warranty, subject always to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Battery safety & care
Use only the battery supplied or approved for your bike. Allow the battery to cool after riding before charging, and charge and store it in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight, excessive heat and combustible materials.
- Charge on a hard, non-combustible surface where practical and keep the bike and battery away from exits and escape routes.
- Do not charge while asleep or when nobody is home.
- Disconnect the charger when charging is complete.
- Never open, modify or attempt a DIY repair to a lithium-ion battery.
- Stop using or charging a battery that is swollen, leaking, cracked, crushed, unusually hot, producing an unusual smell or sound, smoking or showing other signs of failure.
If a battery produces smoke, vapour or fire, move away, evacuate the area and call Triple Zero (000).
Charger safety
Use the charger supplied with the bike or an approved compatible replacement. A connector fitting the battery does not by itself mean that a charger is electrically compatible.
- Inspect the charger, cable and plugs for damage before use.
- Keep the charger dry and do not cover it while operating.
- Do not use a damaged charger or one behaving abnormally.
- Disconnect the charger after charging is complete.
Transporting your bike
Secure the bike appropriately and avoid placing tie-down straps over electrical wiring or connectors where they may crush, stretch or pull cables. After transport, inspect the cables, battery security, wheels, handlebars and critical fasteners before riding. If the bike falls over or suffers an impact, inspect it before continuing to ride.
Electrical faults & error codes
If an error appears, safely stop riding, photograph the error code and switch the bike off. Inspect visible cables and connectors for damage or disconnection, check for moisture, and inspect motor, brake and throttle wiring where fitted.
If the fault returns, contact Evolve with the bike model, a photo of the error code and a short video showing the fault. Error-code meanings can vary between displays, controllers and firmware, so model-specific guidance should be used rather than assuming one code has the same meaning on every bike.
